Logan is SUCH a great big brother. Whenever I put Logan in the car first, he always says, "Get Baycup." He doesn't want me leaving Jacob behind, lol. Recently, Logan really likes to try and make Jacob smile or laugh and then he will say "I just made Baycup laugh!" and he's so proud. He always hugs and kisses Jacob before nap time and bed time. It's not always roses though... occasionally they will be playing in the front play room together for a few minutes and then Jacob will start crying and I'll come and ask, "What happened? Why is Jacob crying?" and sometimes the response from Logan is, "I push Baycup." He always rats himself out. If he wasn't involved, then he will say that too, "Baycup crying, not me," like telling me he didn't do anything that time.
Jacob is still walking all over and even an almost-run is starting to progress. He still falls all the time which just cracks us up. It feels like he has been walking for such a long time (3 months, seems long to us), but he still falls a lot. He has been in this wobbly stage for a while, and I love it! He is starting to be able to point specific things out in a book (ie. point to the cow, and he'll do it.) But he has the fastest and most aggressive point.... you can't blink, or you'll miss it. I don't know why, but it is just so cute. Jacob can say: mama, dada, and Sssss like a snack. He also will touch his chest for "please" in sign language and usually also says "Ssss" with it, for "please." I'm guessing he's still "behind" on his speech, but nothing that I think it worth being too concerned about at this stage.
So, we are in the process of finishing our basement. It has been a little bit of a bumpy road. They started at the beginning of August and were off to a fast start. It was almost a little too fast... Justin and I were having to make so many decisions, so quickly, and we didn't always agree, which made it harder to make these quick decisions. We finally found a groove. Then, we had a lot of issues with getting approval from the township for an egress window in the basement, because of easements that are on both sides of our house. Bottom line: things have been slowed down by about 4 weeks, due to all of the approvals and bureaucracy, and it is going to cost about twice as much due to electrical wires needing to be moved. Despite the extra costs, we decided to go ahead and do it, because it makes me feel safer to have some sort of escape in the basement, and it will be in the bedroom, which makes me feel better about all of it. So, we are finally getting back on track and our contractor said that we have made most of the decisions now, which is good. It was supposed to be completed November 14, but now it is backed up another month. So it will be a lot finishing up right before Christmas and Baby Maggie.
It is the middle of September already.... I can't believe we will have baby #3 on our hands in a little over 3 months. That isn't THAT far away. So, I have started to buy a few little baby outfits here and there whenever I am at Target or Walmart or whatever. It is pretty darn fun!
Michigan trip: We went to St. Joseph at the end of August. It was a 4.5 hour drive. We had such a great time! We had a great view of the lake from our house that we rented, but it was on a huge bluff and our house didn't have stairs down to the beach. We could have driven .5 mile to the public beach, but we ended up using the neighbors stairs. Matt went over and chatted with the neighbor asking if we could use their stairs and that worked out great. The neighbor was Larry, so we nicknamed him "Lare Bear, master of the stairs." Anyway, it was 173 steps down to the beach. It was such a hike, but so great to have a private beach. We loved it. Our boys loved it too. They needed slightly more entertaining than I was hoping, but if we played in the sand too, then they were happy. I think they just needed ideas on what to build or how to play. We went from Saturday to Thursday, which was just right for us.The Martins stayed until Friday afternoon. Our weather was perfect, except for one morning where it barely sprinkled. So we went to the Curious Kids Museum. We had never taken Logan to a kids museum and he totally LOVED it! It was so in to everything for the 2 hours that we were there. He literally was dripping sweat because he was running around and in to everything. There was this little apple picking station that red balls (apples) would come out of the trees and then they had to run and collect them and put them back in a box. It was hilarious how much he loved it! It was $6 for each of us, including Jacob, but they had this great tiny tots area, that was perfect for Jacob too! We will definitely go back to that museum if we go back there. The only downside to the whole trip was that our house wasn't nice at all. It seemed kind of dirty, but.... it WAS dirt cheap, lol... so we can't really complain. We got what we paid for. It wasn't totally awful, but I think we would try and find a different house if we go back.
Camping: We went camping on Labor Day weekend. It was 1.5 hours away. Justin took Friday off of work and got to the campsite at 3pm to set up, and I showed up at 6pm with the boys. It is so hard to set up with the boys around, so it was really nice that Justin was able and willing to go before us. It makes it so nice, to just show up and start playing. We had a total of about 7 or 8 families come at some point over the 3 day weekend. The boys had a blast!! Some people would be like, "Wait, you're going camping with a 1 and 2 year old and you're pregnant? You're crazy!"... but the boys had so much fun, being outside and playing with their friends. Logan is really at a great age for it. Martin calls Logan and Liam, Tweedle Dee an Tweedle Dum, haha. They are inseparable. It's so freaking cute how well they play together. The only negative or tricky part to camping was the boys sleeping. Falling asleep at night in the tent, was a little tricky the first night. They did much better the next 2 nights. Nap time was also a little tricky. When we tried having the boys nap at the same time, we kept hearing laughing and shenanigans. Then, Jacob was crying because his pack and play was pushed over.... Logan obviously did it. But then, 10 minutes later, when we checked on them, Logan was in the pack and play WITH Jacob rubbing his back, lol. So, we think that Logan was trying to climb in the time before. Anyway, napping was a bit of a train wreck, but when they finally fell asleep, they slept well.
So, like I said, this was a fun month!

At the fair, Logan was trying to help Jacob take his morning nap in the stroller. Jacob never napped that morning. We are on such a routine, which usually is a great thing, but then it usually means our kids aren't flexible to nap in random places, like a stroller at the fair.

Justin had an impromptu football party on a Thursday night for one of the Browns' pre-season games. I was at Bible Study that night..... I shared my spiritual journey that night. I was so nervous, but it was such a great, growing experience for me!
