Jacob 9 months old, Logan 2 years old

Jacob is 9 months old! He just had his 9 month checkup this morning and here are his stats....

Weight: 20 lbs 10 oz (60-70th percentile)
Height: 50th percentile
Head: 90-95th percentile (it was in the 98th percentile for his 6 month checkup)
The doctor said that all of that looks great!! He is right on track for everything... although the doctor said he should start "talking" more than just his coos by the time he is 12 months old. He should be making more consonant sounds (more babbling), but she said it is nothing to worry about at all.

We are doing great. Jacob learned to clap his hands with Justin's help while they were listening to Eric Church :-)

My mom was a champ and was willing to go to Mississippi with me and both boys to see Gie and John. Bill couldn't go because of several church meetings. We had such a fun time seeing Gie and John and Paul, Marney, Morgan and Madeline! Gie even managed to squeeze in a quick shopping trip with me.... SO fun! Mom and I did pretty darn well traveling. We only had two laughing meltdowns from the chaos :-) The boys were actually pretty good travelers. Jacob just had a hard time falling asleep while being held. Overall, we had such a wonderful time!

For my birthday, Justin had such a fun weekend planned. He asked Janey to come babysit on Friday until Saturday afternoon. We acted like tourists in our own town. We stayed in a really fun hotel downtown called The Meridian. We went to a super nice dinner at Black Point. The next day we went to the Guild House and played gin, followed by sushi at Lemongrass. Justin really thought everything out and it was SO SO much fun!! And a huge thanks for Janey coming to watch the boys! Later that weekend, Jacob was eating food in his high chair, while Justin fixed the stools and Logan was reading and playing. Eric Church's Hometown and then Strawberry Wine came on the radio (I jotted that down in my phone notes ;)) and I was just thinking, "This is it. This is what it is all about. Life is so good. Thank you, God." Then, that Sunday after church we went to the Westerville Rec Center and went swimming at the indoor pool. It was so much fun! Logan loved it and it was Jacob's first time in a pool!

Logan is learning to really play hide and seek and it is just the cutest.

We watched The Good Dinosaur with Logan and he really liked it! It was one of the few movies that he's watched.

There is some cliche about how, "some day you will look back and realize that the small moments were really the big moments." I kind of feel like that applies to life right now. We feel busy, but if I stop and think about it, we really aren't that busy. In several years we might actually busy with crazy sports schedules or extracurricular activities. So, I'm trying to appreciate that we don't have tons of set plans. It's pretty nice to have time to focus on our family!

Several people shared a link on Facebook which I liked....
